Yesterday, participation and a shared sense of community marked the inauguration of the new municipal nursery school “Il Castello dei Tesori,” in the Municipality of Castel Colonna, in Trecastelli.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended also by Paolo and Matteo Subissati, marked the official handover to the community of a modern, sustainable facility designed to accommodate up to 40 children, set to become a benchmark for educational services in the area.
The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Trecastelli and Vice President of the Union of Municipalities “Le Terre della Marca Senone,” Marco Sebastianelli, the Councillor for Health and Social Policies of the Marche Region, Paolo Calcinaro, the President of the Province of Ancona, Daniele Carnevali, the Bishop of the Diocese of Senigallia, Franco Manenti, the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Budget Alessandro Pellegrini, and the Councillor for Social Policies and Public Education Eleonora Lozza. Also present were Luca Giacometti, Sole Project Manager of the Technical Office of the Municipality of Trecastelli, Giuseppina Campolucci, Head of Personal Services at ATS 8, representatives of the municipal administration and of the Union of Municipalities “Le Terre della Marca Senone,” civil, military, and religious authorities, and numerous citizens and families, who had the opportunity to visit the new spaces.
Mayor Marco Sebastianelli described the inauguration as a “historic milestone” for the town, highlighting the value of the investment for the community’s future: he noted that the facility will not only be a safe and stimulating place for young children to grow, but also tangible proof of an administration that plans by listening to the needs of new generations and that, thanks to synergy with European funds and local institutions, turns ideas into concrete reality.
Among the institutional remarks, the Councillor for Health and Social Policies of the Marche Region, Paolo Calcinaro, wished to underline the value of the work carried out by Subissati. In his speech, he recalled the nursery school we built in Fermo, a project whose journey had begun during his term as Mayor of that city. He pointed out that on that occasion he had already had the chance to appreciate the construction quality and craftsmanship of Subissati, qualities he said he found once again in the new “Il Castello dei Tesori” nursery school in Trecastelli. This recognition confirms Subissati’s commitment to building wooden school facilities that are safe, sustainable, and designed to offer high-quality environments for the communities that use them.
The new facility represents, in fact, a major investment for the area and marks a further step forward in the development of childcare services, with a wooden building built by Subissati according to the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
A wooden, NZEB nursery school designed for children’s wellbeing
Councillor Eleonora Lozza described the value of the project as follows: Il Castello dei Tesori is not simply a modern building, but a space designed entirely around children. Every detail has been carefully planned to foster learning, socialization, and play in complete safety, and the future transition to the integrated 0–6 age hub will ensure valuable pedagogical continuity for children’s growth.
Indeed, the new nursery school, built entirely of wood, covers 500 square meters on a single level and was designed to offer functional, safe, and comfortable environments that support growth, play, and socialization. It includes spaces dedicated to educational activities, services, a multipurpose area, and a dining hall, with particular attention paid to natural lighting and the quality of the interior spaces.
Wood, as a structural material, was the optimal choice to ensure high seismic performance, comfort, and a significant reduction in environmental impact.
For this reason, the “Il Castello dei Tesori” nursery school is classified as NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Building). The high level of insulation of the building envelope, the efficiency of the systems, and the design solutions adopted make it possible to minimize energy consumption while ensuring maximum comfort for children, educators, and school staff.
Behind the design and construction is the Subissati–Bioedil joint venture, which handled the final and executive design as well as the construction of the project, completing the work in full compliance with the planned schedule.
For us at Subissati, this project confirms the value of wooden construction as a concrete response to the needs of modern school building: safe, sustainable, durable buildings designed to improve the quality of life for the children and staff who use them every day.
A strategic investment funded by the PNRR
The construction of the nursery school was made possible thanks to an investment funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) – Mission 4 “Education and Research,” as part of the NextGenerationEU program and the Italia Domani plan. In this context, we at Subissati provided our experience in building public facilities, working in compliance with the technical, quality, and procedural requirements set out for projects funded by the PNRR. This commitment demonstrates our ability to deliver strategic infrastructure that meets the high standards required by investment programs of national and European importance.
With the official handover of “Il Castello dei Tesori” to the community, Subissati once again thanks the Municipality of Trecastelli, the institutions involved, and all the professionals who contributed to the completion of a project destined to become a landmark for the community — joining the rest of our projects in the field of wooden school construction.
