Our skills in design and construction also find application in creating structures for outdoor spaces, conceived to blend into their surroundings and meet the needs of collective use. A concrete example is the new Green Amphitheatre at the Cesanella Park in Senigallia (AN), built within a green area destined to become a space for meetings, cultural activities, training, and community gathering.
Project features
The project covers an area of 165 m², with a capacity of around 100 people.
The structure of the amphitheater consists of tiered seating built using metal cages filled with natural and reclaimed stones, on which we laid wooden slats that define both the cladding of the tiers and the seating itself.
Our work also included the construction of the wooden flooring for the amphitheater area, helping to unify the surface of the space and its relationship with the tiers and seating. It is precisely the relationship between materials and context that defines the project: the wooden component introduces a natural element within a space surrounded by vegetation, creating visual and material continuity with the park’s landscape. Wood, therefore, is not just a construction choice, but becomes an integral part of the identity of the space and its relationship with the surrounding environment.
Opening ceremony
On Sunday, September 13, the Green Amphitheatre was officially inaugurated as part of the Day for the Care of Creation, held at Cesanella Park, through a project promoted by the Diocese of Senigallia and funded by Cariverona.
The day marked the concluding moment of a journey that began in 2021 with the participatory project “The Park We Want,” which over the years has involved citizens, associations, and schools in shaping the future of the area, followed by the ECO project (carried out by the network led by Gruppo Pleiadi together with the Municipality of Senigallia, Fondazione Caritas, Unità Pastorale Buon Samaritano, Associazione Next, and the University of Camerino).
Before the inauguration, an ecumenical and interfaith prayer moment for Creation was held, with the participation of the Catholic, Evangelical, and Orthodox Christian communities, as well as the Jewish community and the Islamic community of Senigallia. At 6:00 PM, the ribbon-cutting marked the official opening of the Green Amphitheatre and the return to the city of a new public space.
For us at Subissati, this project represents a concrete application of our building culture: wood becomes an architectural element of a public space, integrates with the natural environment, and helps create a place meant for meeting and sharing.
Through projects like this, we continue to interpret wood as a material capable of combining functionality, design quality, and attention to context, bringing our construction experience into new fields and putting it at the service of people and the local area.
