The work on the new kindergarten in the hamlet of Fanano, Municipality of Gradara (PU), is nearing its final phase: the internal parts of the glulam structure are now complete, while the external installations are underway. The project was developed with the objective of constructing a wooden school building that combines seismic safety, climatic comfort and environmental sustainability, consolidating our company's experience in the construction of wooden structures in the public sector.
The building is divided into three functional blocks totalling approximately 600 square metres, arranged around a large central atrium. A central inner courtyard provides natural light, ventilation and a continuous relationship between the children and the outdoors. The distribution areas are conceived not only as corridors, but as laboratory spaces dedicated to educational and recreational activities, to encourage full use of the building.
Each room, designed to accommodate children from 0 to 3 years of age, has been designed with large, soft, impact-absorbing surfaces that encourage free play and the acquisition of early motor skills. The bright and differentiated wall colours act as a visual guide, transforming each classroom into a playful 'pathway' that stimulates orientation, encourages interaction between the children and reinforces the memory of spaces through intuitive colour codes.
The structure will be certified as a Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB), thanks to a photovoltaic system calibrated to power the heat pump, the controlled mechanical ventilation system and the high-efficiency LED lighting. Glulam, chosen for its environmental-friendly nature and ability to guarantee excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, contributes to a drastic reduction in CO₂ emissions, in perfect harmony with the most advanced standards of sustainable building.
