A school is without doubt one of society’s most important buildings, because it is here that future generations are trained and we believe that the sustainability and seismic safety of wood makes it one of the most appropriate materials for this type of building, precisely because it allows the boys and girls to look to their education with complete peace-of-mind.
The new pre-school of Montecalvo in Foglia (PU) will be built using a lamellar wood frame/panels to cover approximately 650 m2.
All the rooms (3 classrooms, 2 multi-purpose rooms, toilets, staff room, 1 common room for use as a canteen and 1 multi-purpose hall) have been designed for the best possible use and coloured in simple hues to make them immediately recognisable.
For the external walls, specific solutions have been developed: on the most exposed façades, a ventilated stratigraphy was used, whilst to the north, a passive wall.
To characterise the central space of the common room-canteen, the choice was made to “transform” the central pillar into the natural figure most represented by children, that of a tree.
This element enhances what would otherwise be a simple structural element, encompassing it harmoniously and functionally into the overall look of the common space.
Thanks to latest-generation plants, the building guarantees unparalleled energy efficiency.
