The bridge with a free space of 60 LM installed on the Nevola - Trecastelli river (AN)

The work for the construction of a plywood bridge was started and concluded in a few days for the river crossing which privately services the company Multiservizi S.p.a. and is intended for the conveyance of the hydraulic pipes and footbridge for the sole purpose of the checking and maintenance of the pipes.

The new structure which is located in the town of Trecastelli (AN) has the following features:
The static scheme is represented by a three-hinged arch with a free space between the supports of about 60.00 lm (width of bridge 2.90 lm).
the support structure of the construction is constituted as follows
 - 4 large-sized support beams constituting the elements of the Larch plywood arch;
 - secondary framework,
 - floor decking;
 - St. Andrew’s cross bracing system (diameter 28 mm)  

The phases of installation of the wooden structure have been engrossing, fast and organised according to the procedures already established.

As planned for the considerable size of the work, it was necessary to set up a construction site adjacent to the zone of the final positioning of the bridge.

The work was begun with the unloading of the 4 main curved beams and then the installation of a central metallic structure which was especially prepared and sized in order lay and connect the 4 main curved plywood beams by means of the central metallic hinge.

A part of the secondary frames and some bracings, which are necessary for the aerial elevation and positioning of the bridge on the prepared reinforced concrete supports, was subsequently installed.

Once positioned, the assembly of the remaining secondary frames and the floor decking and the waterproof covering were finished.
