RESTRUCTURING PROJECT OF A COUNTRY HOME AND TRANSFORMATION INTO A COUNTRY HOUSE

Pergola, località Montaiate (PU).

Here presenting Malatesta Maison, in which our company took part in the construction with the wooden support structures of the floors and roofs.

Created to the wishes of Carlo, Claudia and Isabel to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and embark on a new life and way of life in a more relaxing atmosphere amidst the hills, Malatesta is a country house that has been restructured by the architect Michele Gambato, bringing a rural complex consisting of a main home, built from local stone in the late 1800s and two smaller buildings.

Now unusable for some time, the small complex of buildings comes back to life with a project that emphasises the great sense of belonging to the territory of items that had once played a key role in the countryside's economy, reinterpreting them in a contemporary key.

Thus the cladding of the buildings is reconstructed using the same local stone as the original country homes, the openings, which are larger than they were originally and underlined by a corten sheet frame, are instead arranged freely in a metaphysical play on filled areas and hollows.

The inside of the building has then been completely modified to meet the owners' needs: in the main building, a living area with two different heights occupies the central part, whilst the bedrooms and owners' residence are on the first floor, connected by a corridor over the double-height space; the service rooms have instead been installed in the basement area.

The two smaller buildings house other independent rooms and a small wellness area, providing guests with a different way of enjoying the landscape.

All buildings have been designed with a focus on sustainability, energy saving and seismic safety. The technological construction of the perimeter walls is 65 cm thick and consists of an external 30 cm layer of the original local stone, an 8 cm layer of insulation using Stiferite and a layer of support wall of 25 cm, as well as the necessary anti-seismic function, the floors and ceilings are in a wooden structure; this type of solution means that buildings do not need cooling during the summer and have minimal thermal dispersion during the winter. With the installation of photovoltaic panels and a heat pump in lieu of a condensation boiler, the buildings are also completely self-sufficient in energy terms.
